don't you hate it when...........
you've been cooking all morning and you have one more thing to put together, but all your regular sized mixing bowls are in the dishwasher. so, you're faced with the decision to use a too small bowl or a too large bowl. {because it's too much work to get the normal one out of the dishwasher and spend all that time hand washing it.} well, you choose the too small one - again, to save time - because you can squeeze it in the dishwasher {and then you won't have to look at it dirty in your sink until tomorrow when you unload the dishes.}
so, you're blending your base (yellow cake mix, butter and an egg) on low speed in a too small bowl and cake mix base is flinging all over you.........the counter.........the floor.........and now the baby - because he had to crawl up on the stool to see what the noise was when you turned on the blender. but, you push on. you can't get the too big bowl now, you already got the too small one dirty. and it's still too much work to get the normal one out of the dishwasher to hand wash. you ignore the crumblies you're stepping on with your bare feet, swat the marshmallows out of the babies hands {because it is only 9:30 am} stop blending, and start pressing in the bottom of the pan. it seems a bit too crumbly {probably because you didn't mix it well enough} but you throw it in the oven anyway.
you turn around from putting it in the oven and you have a huge mess to clean up. you start with the baby {because of the multiplying marshmallows in his hands} and go to the counter and then the floor. *bonus* the bowl squeezes {barely} into the dishwasher! yay! the timer goes off and sure enough, looks too crumbly. you cover with marshmallows and finish, but start praying that rebecca is bringing brownie bites and ashley is bringing white chocolate cranberry cookies so no one will want to eat the salted peanut chews............
i hate it when that happens! hehehe
i always seem to have the perfect recipe for making easy things hard! lol. at least it gives me somethin' to blog about! :)

What is it with doing the dishes? I think it is probably one of the MOST dreaded jobs. Isn't it? I mean... thinking about doing the dishes just frustrates/annoys me. And to top it all off... doing any dishes BY HAND... Yeah Right! And yet... we do them every day... once, twice, sometimes three times a day. Ugh...
I'm sorry the morning was a little rough for you... but i'm sure the peanut chews were delicious... and i'm sad that you didn't take any pictures of your mess... I would have loved to see your house even relatively dirty...(in my dreams... your house is never dirty.)
Love the post.. keep it up.. can't wait to hear from you next week!
*Joy*
as your describing the ingredients to your oh so yummy peanut chews - my mouth is watering...im so so excited!!!
Too funny, It captures well a very relate-able feeling. I do it ALL the time. When I'm done I'm always hitting myself thinking, it would have been easier to just hand-wash the bowl!!! Why am I so stubborn!?!?
let me get this straight....you've been cooking ALLLL morning, and yet it's only 9:30?! wow. let me just say, w.o.w.
Oh my heck Anika you are tooo funny but it sound JUST like me and I STILL do that kind of thing after years and years. May you be a faster learner than me!!!!!
