one.two.three.

yep.  I have a three month old.  it seems like he was just born.  oh yeah, he was!!   he didn't want to look at me on this day, maybe he was mad because we cut his hair.  live and learn.

thinkin' about it thursday.

leftovers.
I know people who will not eat them.  don't count me among that group.  I love leftovers.  LOVE.  what could be better than being hungry and opening the fridge just to find last nights' yummy meal.  you get to enjoy it all over again, only you don't have to spend all day cooking it!  (who am I kidding?  do you really think I cook all day?  no.)  the only thing better than that is restaurant leftovers.  one of my favorite things in the world is going out to eat and I am the queen of stretching out that meal as long as I can.  seriously, even french fries can be hot and crispy again in the right temp in the oven.  you can enjoy that restaurant food all over again all without have to get dressed.  (I was gonna say you don't have to do your hair and put on makeup, but again, I don't really do hair and makeup these days.  if I have 15 extra minutes, I'm sah-leepin'.)  the only thing not good about leftovers is that one gladware that got shoved in the back and discovered 2 weeks after the fact.  I don't want to waste it, so I try to salvage it and regret it.  every time.  anyway, I had me some yummy leftovers yesterday left over from daddy-o's birthday.  so, happy birthday, dad, and thanks for being born so we could celebrate.  :)
leftovers: it's the gift that just keeps giving, and it's what I'm thinkin' about today.

thinkin' about it thursday.

perspective.
I see this:
a lot.
I see this because on a daily basis cy wants, needs my phone.  he really is super cute and super smart with it.  he knows how to get to certain games and to the timer with all the different sounds to choose, but definitely his fave part is the camera.  I get a little surprise (or lots of surprises) every time I look through my photos.  here's a sampling of his great photography skills:
what is cy thinking when he takes these pics?
my two-year-old's perspective: it's what I'm thinkin' about today.

thinkin' about it thursday.

bubbles.
bubbles don't seem that scary to me.  first of all, it's just plain fun to say.......bubbles, bubbles, buuuuubbbbbbblllllllessssss........they're light and fluffy and airy and floaty and happy......... get a whole bunch together and it's one big fun party.  a super fun bubble party.  well, my 2 year old does not feel this way.  he screams like a little girl when you pour thomas the train bubble bath into his bath water.  he is sooooooo dramatic - standing up, not wanting any bubbles touching him anywhere.  I think it may be the cruelest thing I've ever done to him.  I know, it's so mean.  is this bubble bath phobia normal?
bubbles......it's what I'm thinkin' about today.

thinkin' about it thursday.

I had a pretty dark post scheduled for today.  a high school friend decided last week to end his life.  I can't help but wonder how bad things must've been, or what could've made a difference, or just why...............
but, luckily, cy [just being cy] went and did this yesterday (and saved my long, depressing post):
he put his cars in the fridge.  the fridge?!?!?!?!?!?

I get putting cars in the clothes washer, and I get putting cars in the dishwasher, but the fridge?  what is the point of having your cars chilled?  I'm stumped.  help me out, here.  it's what I'm thinkin' about today.

two 2's.

I have two 2's!  a 2 year old and a 2 month old!  and they are two super cutes.

here is one of the 2's:
he weighs 12 pounds 4 ounces (yikes!)
and measures 23 inches long
he has been very fussy so far, but switched to nutramigen formula and are hoping that helps.  he's been doing better the last couple of days.  {fingers crossed}
he already wears size 2 diapers and 6 months clothes.
he is super strong, has been holding his head up really well since he was a couple weeks old, and has been using the bumbo for awhile now:

and here are the two 2's together.  cy had to get in on the picture taking.

thinkin' about it thursday.

the wind.

"hey, it's your mom outside."

me and the wind have had oodles of time to get to know each other.  we have a love-hate relationship.

love - that I don't have to do my hair on windy days, that's just awesome.

hate - that the same hair whips into my face and eyes when I'm trying to walk, that's just annoying and it hurts!  it also looks kinda funny when you're doing a little head flip and dance just to see to walk into wal-mart.

{side note}  I had a wind-inspired hair-do in high school.  my very long, very thick bangs stood straight out to the side with a little aqua net harispray.  I'm sure I was so cool.  I had a perfect hair day the day we took a track picture for the paper.  (you know sometimes you just have good hair days.)  when you looked at me it looked like the wind was blowing hard, but it wasn't.........

love - that I live in an area that is perfect for flying kites.

hate - that I haven't flown a kite for at least 20 years.

love - that if I have any garbage in my yard, I don't have to pick it up!  I just have to wait for the wind to carry it off.

hate - that I have to pick up my neighbors' garbage.

love - that the wind sometimes brings clouds and rain and even thunder and lightening sometimes.

hate - that usually that weather comes on a day we have something planned........

love - that a slight breeze keeps all the mosquitos and little bothersome bugs away.

hate - that it's always more than a "slight" breeze.

love - that I don't live in a tornado area.  (see, it could always be worse.)

hate - that there were rumors of a tornado touch down yesterday.  great.

do you have a love/hate relationship with the wind?

a new play set.

wow.  grandma really out-did herself with this one.  cy loves, Loves, LOVES going to grandma's house, and now, it's gonna be practically impossible to get him to come home with me!  thanks a lot grandma.  what a super fun toy.  I'm gonna venture to say it passed the "cy test," he likes it.........just a little.

sleep deprived?  yeah, maybe.  a little.  what?  you've never almost done that?!?!?

thinkin' about it thursday.

I had a couple of free hours yesterday and found myself in an interesting dilemma:

should I be skinny and exhausted -or- fat and rested? (in other words: exercise -or- nap?)

I opted to exercise.  but I didn't lose any weight, so today I will be napping.

one whole month old.

is this already going by fast?

he's so close to smiling - he's smiled accidently a couple times.  he cries quite a bit unless certain people are holding him.  {like Gramma Wendie}  he's a rrrreeeeaaaalllllllyyyyyy good eater.  he snuggles by pulling his legs up and rolling into a ball when I'm holding him *I love it* my favorite thing.  he makes my heart smile and he's super cute.  we've decided we'll keep him.
will and I have decided there is nothing better than being parents.  so much joy!  so worth all the years of waiting.  my dad thinks being a grandparent is better......hopefully we'll see!

thinkin' about it thursday.

thinkin' about it thursday is back!  yay!

jealous?

I didn't think we had a problem with jealousy, but I walked into the bedroom one day and found this:
cy frequently hides UNDER the bassinet, but this was the first time he was IN the bassinet.  and, this is not the only thing of the baby's that I have found him in.  he also has tried out the bouncer, car seat and swing.  yes, swing.  it's a good thing he is so sweet and cute with lane, or I would be worried!
having these 2 sweet little boys is the best thing ever!  seriously.

a rare spare second.

here are some pics:

we blessed lane at my home ward on March 28, because camron and angela decided to bless their baby that day.  lane was 11 days old and we were so excited to share this special day with his cousin, olivia.

thinkin' about it thursday.

thursday already?

i'm trying really hard not to think.

Monday, March 8, 2010

just kidding. I didn't make it.

haha.  what a good joke.  here I am at home, still pregnant.  I had a plan.  everything was in order from cy to the hospital.  the first thing that went wrong was that cy woke up saturday morning sick.  that shoulda been my first clue that things weren't going happen they way I planned.
I went to the hospital saturday night contracting on my own.  they gave me cervadel and said that people usually don't go into labor with that by itself, but it might with me since I had already started things myself. after a very painful night of no sleep and contractions they started the pitocin to give me a little help with labor.  they started on the very lowest dose (1 mL) and my contractions were 1-2 minutes apart.  They said we won't even have to go to the highest dose (20 mL) cause I'm already doing my thing.  (did I mention I was in pain?)  we will have the baby by noon.  the problem was with my cervix.  it just wouldn't dilate.  I never got past a 3.  I was supposed to get an epidural at 4.  which I really wanted.  also, the baby was too far up, he wouldn't come down.  (I think that he was hanging onto my lungs for dear life because he didn't want to come yet!)  luckily I had the best OB and the best nurses taking care of me, who gave me great advice.  otherwise, I might have had to have a c-section.  so here we are at 3 or 4pm, at the full dose of pitocin, not ready to deliver.  there were THREE other girls who had come in after me and was having their babies or in labor.  THAT was hard.  so, we unhooked everything.......my blood pressures were pretty good - for the most part - during the whole process.......and we made the decision to spend the night, get really good sleep (YAY drugs) and see if anything happens during the night.
we woke this am feeling great and no change, the baby hadn't dropped and I hadn't dilated anymore.  so, we came home.  now, we just wait and see what happens.  oh, goody.
really, though, I am happy with the decisions we made and after a good nights' sleep, I'm feeling good about everything.  he just wasn't ready to come yet.  and, I think forcing things too much is not good for me or the baby.  and that's the whole story!

Saturday, March 6, 2010

I made it.

today is the day!  the plan is for me to get induced this evening (saturday).  my blood pressure has been high and there was protein in my weekly "sample" so my OB said it was time.  you would think I would be super excited, but here I am not able to sleep, anxious and nervous.  perhaps 2 years and 3 months was not enough time to forget what happens during the whole birthing process.
I really am so excited to hold my new little baby, I can't believe the day is finally here.  today our lives will totally change again.  we are praying that everything goes well!  until next time ~

thinkin' about it thursday.

I'm 9 months pregnant, what else would I be thinkin' about?!?!?!?

Saturday, February 27, 2010

another clarification.

remember THIS post when I had to make it clear that the clothes washer was NOT a hot wheels car wash or a hot wheels garage?
well, it seems I also need to make it clear that the dishwasher is also NOT a hot wheels garage or a hot wheels car wash:

oh, he makes me smile!

thinkin' about it thursday.

top 10 things NOT to say to your 8 month pregnant wife:

10.  "I finished the oreos"

9.  "mornin' pumpkin!  hey, you're starting to look like a pumpkin!"

8.  "well, couldn't they induce labor?  the 25th is the super bowl"

7. "Fred at the office passed a stone the size of a pea.  boy, that's gotta hurt"

6.  "I'm jealous!  why can't men experience the joy of childbirth?"

5.  "are your ankles supposed to look like that?"

4.  "get your own ice cream"

3.  "oh, I ate the rest of the ice cream"

2.  "man, my back is killing me - can I sit on the lay-z-boy while we watch survivor?"

...and finally...

1.  "by the looks of it, this kid will be 50 pounds!"

*for the record, I found this in my file cabinet and thought it was funny, I'm sure it came from an e-mail eons ago.  also, this does not apply to Will in any way.  he takes extra special care of me while I'm pregnant.  yea, I'm lucky, I know.  only 2 weeks to go!*

thinkin' about it thursday.

in a very, very short time, our family will no longer look like this:

so crazy.
and honestly, I'm thinkin' about this a lot more than just today.

thinkin' about it thursday.

babies, babies.

look at our new little niece!
this makes will and I so excited, just 4 more weeks for us.  unbelievable.
with the birth of another baby, we've been thinking a lot about family.  we are so grateful for our family.  and we are so blessed to be a part of a great family.

on a different note, I made sure and called my dad tonight to ask him if he realized that now ALL of his kids HAVE kids.  and added that he was officially old.  we'll see if he talks to me for awhile.  :)

Thursday, February 4, 2010

thinkin' about it thursday.

my awesome day.  yesterday.

so, it all started tuesday night.  right before bed, I loaded the dishwasher and tried to set the delay start.  nothing happened.  will tried to mess with it, and nothing, wouldn't turn on, wouldn't start, nothing.
it's probably 6 or 7 years old, so naturally, we thought it had just died.  luckily, we have the right connections.  so, first thing in the morning we have a new dishwasher.  greg (warehouse manager) comes out and spends an hour getting it hooked up and positioned just perfect, and goes to turn it on..............and..............nothing.  no lights, no power, nothing.  great.
we decide it's an electrical thing and so will calls everywhere in town looking for someone to come out "today" (because it's soooooooo important it can't wait a day.)  well, the electrician gets here and spends a little time, but is confused because one part has power and one doesn't.  He looks up above the dishwasher and sees the switch and flips it.  problem solved.  awesome.
my 2-year-old was the whole problem.  he was playing on the counter while I was cutting vegetables the night before and was flipping the switch on and off, on and off, on and off, and was trying to see what was going on and off.  I saw him doing it, I was right there.  will and I never knew what the switch was for and never even thought the problem could be the switch.  what's even worse is that the switch was installed upside down so even though the above picture looks like the switch is "off," it's not, it's really "on."  awesome.
so, I had to spend money on a new dishwasher when there was NOTHING wrong with the old one.
I had to pay an electrician to come out and flip a switch.
and I had to waste a good part of greg's day unhooking the old dishwasher, hooking up the new dishwasher, unhooking the new dishwasher and hooking up the new dishwasher, again.
talk about an expensive, unnecessary day.  awesome.
yep, kids are so expensive...................but totally worth it.  totally.

and, here is a picture of the guilty party.  everytime I get the camera out he stands by me and says, "cheese, cheese, cheese." until I take his picture.  it is so cute.

thinkin' about it thursday - friday edition.

so, I've been thinkin' about this all day:

cy and I have been sickies lately.  it started almost 2 weeks ago, cy's has come and gone, but I have still been battling.  I've been sick with 3 different things, one right after the other.  2 days ago I started losing my voice.  yesterday I couldn't talk at all.  well, will wanted to go to "town."  even though my throat hurts and I've been coughing all night, I mime, "I'm ok, let's go."  and we get in the car and go.  (seriously, though, I'm not one to turn down a trip to town.)

and this is what I've been thinkin' about today:  we had a great trip, we got along all day, no arguments or disagreements or strong opinion conversations - you know, the ones that end up with me or him saying 'you should think and feel this way because I do.' (usually, ok, always these conversations are about his driving.......he's crazy, really!!)

all day.  a great day.  did I mention I couldn't talk?  all day?  what's up with that?  :)

Thursday, January 28, 2010

thinkin' about it thursday.

the paper boy.

we recently got a new paper boy.  no, we aren't subscribed to the newspaper, but we might start.

the first contact with the new paper boy was with my SIL Ashley.  she was getting out of her car at my house and the 8, 9, 10? yr. old came up to her and told her he was the new paper boy and gave her his cell phone number along with his mom's cell phone number in case we ever needed anything.  he made it a point to tell her to be sure to call his mom's number because she was more reliable.  :)

the next monday we started getting a free 2 week trial of the newspaper.  so, one day, sometime after school,  I'm sitting in our living room with the shades open and I see the paper boy ride his bike ever so carefully up our sidewalk, to the corner of the house.  he leans on the corner of the house, straddles his bike, grabs a paper, winds up and baseball-pitches it to my front door four feet away.  all the while chattering to himself (pep talk, maybe?)  I try so hard not to laugh out loud until he slowly and ever so carefully backs his bike down the sidewalk to the driveway where he turns around and bikes on to the next house.

the new paper boy is awesome - definitely one of the highlights of my day.  and I might, just might subscribe to the paper for my daily dose of the paper boy.  so worth it.

Thinkin' about it Thursday

a child's mind.

I would love to know what goes through Cy's mind.

He often brings his cars (or anything round) to the kitchen floor and plays with them.  So, when he brought these two toys out I didn't give a second glance or even realize what he was doing.

A few minutes later, I heard him say, "ahhhhhhhhh, ahhhhhhh!"

And, that was when I thought, "what is he doing?"

I looked a little closer and started cracking up when I saw what he was playing with.  I quickly grabbed my phone to take a picture, which was luckily in arm's reach.  You see, "CARS" is one of our favorite movies.  And there is a scene where Lightning McQueen and Mater are tractor tipping and they accidently wake up Frank, who is a combine.  Frank chases them around and they narrowly escape.  So, the fact that Cy finds a toy combine and his Lightning McQueen car and plays with them to re-create the scene totally blows my mind!

Everyday he makes me smile.......Life does not get any better than this........I love it!

Thinkin' about it Thursday

if it's raining in january when it's supposed to be snowing, will it snow in april when it's supposed to be raining?  ugh.

(although I miss the snow, I would much rather it rain than be zero degrees.  and I do not want snow in springtime.  clear, enough?)

bedtime.

bedtime has been so easy for us up until cy started climbing out of his crib, at that point we changed to a toddler bed.  he was so excited with the new found freedom of getting in and out of bed whenever he wanted - but not so exciting for me and will.  we've finally found what works for us, but on this particular night, cy thought it was funny to come down the hall and stand between the snow people to see if we would notice him, I guess.  of course, will and I made the mistake of laughing and grabbing the camera.  so, you can guess how bedtime has been going this week.

Thinkin' about it Thursday

Man, I hate it when I put something REALLY important in a special spot so that when I need it, it will be easy to find - you know, since it has it's own spot.

I hate it because when I need that special, important thing, I can never remember where I put it, so I end up tearing the house apart.

I get frustrated because I think if I just would have put it in a normal spot with everything else it would be found already and I would be a happier person with more time in a non-torn apart house.

But, unfortunately, I never learn.
